Scared Of My Own Reflection

At the mirror, she looked
As she stood and shook
She saw eyes that were not hers
And a face that had no meaning for many odd years

Her hair was long and wavy
But it felt heavy and crazy
Her eyes were ever so green
But over time they grew aggressively mean

She walked the earth
But held no soul
She possessed a voice
But it produced no sound

Every day she woke
But every day she prayed to sleep
Every day she cried
But every day she prayed to smile

She knew she had a heart
But it made no beat
She remembered that once she felt
But now, the word has no meaning

Days went by
So did months
Just as did the years
Older she grew, but the same she remained

A heavy heart
A darkened mind
Shadowed eyes
ANd thoughts full of lies

There are some experiences that change us for a second, some for a year, and some for a lifetime.

We choose if these experiences change us to shine in the dark… or to just blend in with it.
